Sometimes, I just cannot win

Like today. I went to The Pickle Barrel for dinner, and ordered a plain boring tasteless old veggie burger instead of my favorite pasta, with goat cheese and veggies. I felt good about my choice. I make frozen veggie burgers often, and have checked out the nutritional information on some boxed and fast food ones, and it is usually reasonable.  I’d say they average at 500 calories and 10-15 grams of fat.

Then I came home, got online, and checked out  The Pickle Barrel nutritional information . It was than that I made the startling discovery that the Veggie burger was just over 500 calories (ok there), and 32 grams of fat! As well, little nutritional value.  The Pasta, however,  is 800 calories (which, though high,  would not have killed my day) and 24 grams of fat, with lots more nutrients to boot, due to the veggies. Plus, the girl loves the pasta and usually eats at least a quarter of it, but has no interest in a veggie burger-so I ate the whole damn thing.

So, if I had gotten my first choice…I would have had about 600 calories and 20 grams of fat for dinner, which is acceptable for a dinner out…and enjoyed it too. Instead I had a veggie burger, which tasted like cardboard, and added a whopping 32 grams of fat to my day.

Grrr…trying to be MILFY is too damn hard. I think I just wanna be fat.

that really sucks!! but good to know for next time. I love the Rose Reisman menu at BP and you would definitely get healthier choices on it…live and learn :)

It’s crazy that you have to do research just to go out to eat.

Just keep at it and you’ll be MILFY before you know it.

I would rather not eat all day and then bulk up when eating out. That sucks.

Don’t you hate when that happens? At least next time, you’re safe with the pasta.

Dina, I don’t usually order form the RR menu. It is almost all meat, so I cannot eat from it when I am out with Adam, except fish but I eat fish at home so often, I refuse to eat it out.

    Thanx Waistloss!

Wendy, me too. If I know I am going out for dinner, I’l often eat very little all day to fit in whatever I want (withing reason). But last night, we had not planned to go out…so I tried to make a healthier choice than what I wanted. Backfired on me. Grrr…

Karrie, so true. Next time, pasta it is!
