By Twilight! I have been hearing about this YA series about Vampires that adults love for a longtime, and had no interest whatsoever. Then, a few weeks ago I was perusing the library audiobooks to find something to “read” on a day that would involve at least 4 hours of driving, and saw that the first 2 books in the series were there. I grabbed them, since there was nothing else that interested me in the upper shelves (it is barely possible for me to get the lower shelves anymore, so my choices were limited to about 1/2 of the audiobooks there) and I figured it is worth a try, and might make for a fun drive.
Well, I loved Twilight. It is no literary masterpiece, but it is a really fun book. It has suspense, romance, the supernatural, tension…and really likable characters. I am now about halfway through New Moonand though I am not liking it quite as much…it is still a good read and I am excited to get to Eclipse next!

Other series I have enjoyed recently: The Outlander Books by Diana Gabaldon, and the Spoils of TimeTrilogy by Penny Vincenzi.

Hello! I saw your comment on my friend’s (Life on Manitoulin) post about bedrest. You recommended the Twilight Series to her. I too have been “bitten”. I was so curious about reading the saga because Comic Con was in town in late June (I live in San Diego) and the Twilight movie cast principals, plus Stephenie Meyer and director Catherine Hardwicke were there. I’d also read an article in Time mag on Meyer and was intrigued by her alternate vampire universe. Being an Anne Rice fan, and fan of vampire books in general, my interest was piqued.
I read (no, devoured) the first 3 books in 3 days, then when BD came out, I got that and finished it in 2 days. This was in late July and early August. I know this book series is geared towards the Young Adult (teen) audience, but heck, I’m in my late 30’s and I love this series. Anyways, I just wanted to say ‘hi’ and I’m glad I’m not the only non-teen that’s admitted to reading these books. I hope you enjoy Eclipse! That’s my 2nd favorite (besides Twilight).
If you haven’t done so, you can also read ‘Midnight Sun’ which is Twilight from Edward’s perspective on Stephenie Meyer’s website. Unfortunately, her manuscript for Midnight Sun was leaked, so she put that project on indefinite hold and posted in on her website so her fans wouldn’t have to read it illegally on other sites.

Thanx for dropping by CC. Yup, I am 34 and love the series…I actually started reading Midnight Sun online, so I could get a fix at home as well as in the car, and it is really good!!!
I am not sure if I’ll see the movie. I don;t usually like to see movies after I have read the book (or vice versa) but I am really intrigued by how this one will translate to the screen, so I may break my own rule!

i’m 39! Yikes! : )
I thought it was interesting reading Midnight Sun because you find out that Edward is just as obsessed about Bella as Bella is about him. I’m kind of bummed that it’s been put on hold. As for the movie, I’ve read a leaked version of the script online and they kept it true to the book, but of course, had to change around some things (condense events, etc) to make it fit. The movie will be 2 hours long by the way. It also helps that Edward is being played by the very hot Robert Pattinson. : )
Have you seen the High Def Twilight Trailer (it’s on MySpace) – it’s awesome! Well, happy reading (or listening, rather, since you have audiobooks!)!
