I am so excited that Barack Obama won the U.S. Presidential election. I am definitely on the left side of the spectrum, (and hate GWB) so any Democratic win would have thrilled me…but besides being glad to see the Democrats back in power down South, I do love Barack Obama and hearing him speak just fills me with hope. It should not be a big deal that he is African-American…and yet it is a big deal and I am just so proud of the United States for electing a Black man as their president. I now have hope that maybe my children can grow up in a world where it really does not matter what colour someone is, where it has no bearing on what they can do, how far they can go, or what people think of them. They will grow up in a world where it is no longer a surprise that an African-American could lead The United States, but rather a given!
I have heard many complain that he won because he was black, and I don’t doubt that some people voted for him for that reason. However, I also have no doubt that there were also many that voted McCain because he is not Black. Either way, it is time for a change in the U.S., and I hope that Obama can live up to his promises and make that change.
As for my pregnancy hormones…lets just say I cannot watch Obama’s speech (or even McCain’s) wihout crying. Sad, eh???
Thumbs up Barack!!!

I’m so happy Barack Obama was elected as our new President! I loved the part in his speech how he said he was going to have to fulfill his promise to his girls about getting a new dog! But seriously, this change in administration will be for the better.

I cannot watch Obama’s speech without crying and I’m not pregnant. Just a big ol’ softy!
He is remarkable! I am so relieved and hopeful about his election and, for the first time since Clinton was in office, feel proud to be American.

I feel such a sense of relief, that he was elected. I truly believe that he will help get our country out of the mess that President Bush got us in.
I also, teared up at points during the acceptance speech.

I have been bursting into tears on and off for the past couple days and I am not pregnant. It’s just so overwhelming.

Oh, I totally hear ya! I cried too! Then again, I’ve been crying at EVERYTHING these days. I’d probably cry listening to his speech even if I weren’t pregnant though! :)
P.S. Thanks so much for the surprise visit the other day! That’s 2x in one week! I’m so lucky! XOXO
