Progress!

I haven’t updated on my getting is shape progress lately, but yesterday was my weigh in day!

I lost 2 more lbs and am now at 170 (actually, I was a tad below, but not enough to put 169). I was 189 early November when I started half-heartedly…around 184 late December when I really committed…so I am now at just about 20lbs! Woot!

Measurements today are at: 42-35-41…that is a total loss of 3-5-2 inches combined. Yesterday I fit back into my favorite Pre-pregnancy jeans. A bit of a muffin top, but they were freshly washed and have some stretch, so I am sure if I wear them they’ll be fine after a couple hours. I am pretty sure they fit like that before I got pregnant as well…but it has been a while!

So yeah, I am a bit braggy!

I shouldn’t be though, because really, I have not been so good lately. Not bad, still staying within my 1600 Calorie a day limit and doing 20-30 minutes of exercise about 5X a week ( find it easier to make myself do short frequent workouts that less frequent long ones.)…but the fat grams are creeping up there and the calories are closer to 1600 most days than they were a while ago…when they should be getting lower since I am a lower weight now. Oh well…as long as I am still losing (or at this point, not gaining. I have 10lbs to go to reach my short term goal, but am fine with maintaining for a while and then moving on. Last time I lost significant weight I took 2 maintenance breaks in the middle and it helped to stop worrying about losing and just focus on maintaining for a while).

For exercise I’ve been doing Wii fit, the elliptical, and The shred (Google it, I am having link issues). I like to mix it up and do something different every night.

Soon, it’ll be warm enough to start jog-walking again. I am looking forward to that!

My day in Hell

I purchased tickets for my family to see the King Tut exhibit at the AGO yesterday, at 12:30. Since that is Charlotte’s nap time and she often naps in a carrier on my back (we do not use a stroller often), I had planned for her to nap while the man, the girl and myself enjoyed the exhibit.

Upon arrival, I discovered 2 things: the show was running 1 hour behind, and that I was not allowed to wear my baby on my back, since we could “bump into things”. I recommend they not allow anybody on medication, anybody vision impaired, anybody clumsy, anybody elderly, children, and anybody pregnant (also clumsy) into the AGO either than. Perhaps they need some soft of test when people walk in to determine if they are likely to bump into something or not?? A baby worn in a proper back carrier is perfectly safe, and no more likely to be bumped into things than anyone else. I walk into the elliptical machine in my bedroom everyday, yet wear my baby on my back for hours a day in many places and have never, ever, bumped her into anything.

As a result of the unexpected wait, and the fact that I would have to carry my baby, who will not nap like that, in my arms, I decided to ask for a refund. I was told by 2 staff members to go to membership desk. I waited in line there (with my baby in my arms screaming because it was her nap time and she wanted to be on my back) only to be told I was in the wrong line, had to wait in the admissions line, but could only get an exchange.

In the end, we decided to suck it up and see the exhibition.

By the time we got into the exhibition we were tired, hot and hungry. We quickly realized (as if the wait was not enough to clue us in) that the AGO  had over-sold to the point that the exhibits were not actually visible unless one was willing to spend 15 minutes or so working their way towards each artifact.

So, we went through as fast as possible, had a 40$ cafeteria lunch, and left. We saw many people who had been in the line with us also in the cafeteria, they too had clearly not even seen the exhibit to be through it so quickly.

This was what my 100$ bought me on a holiday weekend. Waiting in lines for over an hour, carrying a screaming baby in my arms when she could have been happily asleep on my back, a 20 minute walk through a packed exhibit where I and my family could see nothing, and the opportunity to spend 40$ on lunch in a cafeteria. And we got to drive downtown and back with 2 whiny kids for these joys.

I will never, ever step foot in the AGO again.

Time to share my new toys

I haven‘t shared my baby-wearing apparatus in a while, but I do still wear Charlotte, a lot, mostly on my back. I like to wear her in Soft Structured Carrier these days, since the buckles make it quick and easy.  Here are my 3 favorites!

Dream Carrier

Olives and Applesauce 18 inch

And my newest (came today!!), the BabyHawk Oh Snap

Everytime I say it, I think of the “clean” version of London Bridge!
