Penelope: A cute family movie that almost anyone will enjoy, with a sweet lesson. As an added bonus, it stars Christina Ricci, who I always find charming and who tops my “If I was into women” list. As another bonus, she has a super cute wardrobe in the movie…especially for a girl that never gets out!
Iron Man: Better than I expected. Not a cinematic masterpiece, but Robbie was his usually witty, sardonic, hot and distracting self, and the movie kept me awake until 11pm, which is a not insignificant accomplishment.
The Dark Knight: Kinda boring. I could not get into it. I also don’t get why everyone says Heath Ledger deserves an Oscar? Is it because he is dead? Well…he was good…but not Oscar worthy (ducks to avoid tomatoes and banana peels) IMO.
Wow. What a movie. Anyone who liked Blair With Project will probably like Cloverfield as well. The basic premise is that a group of young New Yorkers are at a party when a monster the size of a skyscraper attacks the city, doing things like decapitating the statue of liberty. The movie is a video shot by one of the main characters, who was holding the camera to video tape the party when the mayhem began.
I have read that the shaky amateur style camera work make some headachy or nauseous, however it did not both me (and I am both headache and nausea prone) or my man.
The movie was great. Suspenseful, action packed, creepy, and scary as hell. The effects were awesome, and the actors were great…felt very real. It great date movie though I think the man may have come out of it a little pain from all my handsqueezing. At one point I was so startled I threw my arms around him and shrieked…he just laughed!
I do think this is a love it or hate it type of film…but if you are dark and twisty (and like LOST, same writer and producer) than I think you’ll appreciate it.
I leave you with this trailer:
In other movie news, they showed a preview for the new Robert Downey Jr. movie, Iron Man…Robby looks as edible as ever, but man I don’t think I can do it even for him:
P.S. has anyone been to a birthday party at My Gym? We walked by last night, and are considering it for the girl (turning 5 in March) . Thoughts?
It has always creeped me out that I had a teensy little crush on Shaun from Hi5. It is wrong to think teenagers on kids shows are cute, right? (Though I never thought he was an actual teen, I assumed he was in his early 20s…too young to have a crush on, but not disgustingly young)
I need a fan. People don’t deserve to be this beautiful. People this beautiful don’t deserve to have each other. I know. I am mean. It is just the jealousy speaking.
b) Who would want their child to be anything like Lindsay Lohan? Admittedly, she is beautiful, but she is a mess.
c) It’s California. If she needs a tan (and no one does) she can…umm…I don’t know….hmmm…what to do, what to do? I got it!!! Play outside!!!
d) 1 300 dollars!
e) Why, oh why, do people continue to think it is necessary to change one’s skin colour to look good? I am white as snow, and stay that way all summer long. If I was meant to be another colour, I would be. When people tell me a I need a tan (and they often do!), I ask them if it is okay to tell a black person they need to be a bit lighter. Shuts them up real fast!
Ain’t nothing wrong with pale. Just ask Nicole, or Zooey (I love me some Zooey) or Kristen!
Of course, if you really crave the Lindsay look, go for it. But I just don’t see what makes this better:
disclaimer: I am not saying that darker skin looks bad. I think all skin tones are beautiful, when they are natural. Skin that is darker due to tanning (especially indoor tanning) looks orange and gross. Even when skin is tanned in the real outdoors, and looks good (and yes, I’ll admit sometimes it does), it is still a bad idea. It increases risk of skin cancer and accelerates aging. I just don’t think tanning looks good enough to take those kind of risks. I’d rather be pale, lower my risk of skin cancer, and look younger longer. Have you ever seen skin cancer? Looks a lot worse than pale skin!
Back to the original point…what a sad way for a little girl to be brought up. Thinking that she needs to look like a celebrity for her school picture. How heartbreaking that at such a young and impressionable age she is learning that beauty matters more than anything else, even health (they don’t show her in the tanning bed, but the guy says it is part of the package).
that Robbie sings? I just discovered that he has an album, The Futurist. So I bought it. I am really quite impressed. He isn’t gonna win a Grammy…but he has a nice deep croon and his songs sound sincere and from the heart. “A man like me” is my favorite. Creepy cover though.
