A few months ago, I switched from my Nalgene water bottle to a Siggone. I had read too many articles about the dangers of Polycarbonateto ignore even though I know very well that it may just be paranoid hype (are eggs good or bad for us?). Since I use my water bottle every day and suck from it constantly, I just figured better safe than sorry. After some research I decides a Sigg was my best bet and bought one. I am not sure if it is really healthier or not, but I do love it. It looks great, and the water tastes great too. I fill it with filtered tap water nightly, and I find that water has less of a chemical taste from my Sigg than it did from my my Nalgene. I took the Sigg to Disney World, where it fell out of my bag no less than 1200 times. It lived, but is really scratched up and dented and doesn’t really stand straight anymore. Last week I finally made it to The Big Carrot to get a new one. Lucky for me, they had the one I have been coveting in stock. May I present my new suck toy:
Lovely, yes? If you are gonna spend $34 on a water bottle, it may as well be pretty, pink and give some proceeds (and create some awareness) for a good cause.
P.S. I really really recommend reusable water bottles, be it hard plastic or aluminum or even steel or glass. The cheap one time plastic ones are awful. Not only am I concerned about the health aspects of sucking on flimsy plastic all day, but the waste is just enormous. Every time I go to the supermarket I see people buying piles of cases of bottles of water, and it hurts me to think how most of those bottles won’t even make it to a recycling bin. Disposable water bottles are a huge contribution to the world’s waste problems, and even reusing them is not safe. I am lucky to live in a city that has safe regulated water, and am glad to take advantage of that!
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. A perfect time to get pretty in pink, and help a great cause. Sephora has some great looking products to check out (click product image for details):
I woke up at 5:15, made it downtown for 7, and walked 5k (on an empty stomach. I tried to eat breakfast before I left home, but it was too early and I just couldn’t). Actually, I walked/jogged 5k. I jogged about 1/3 to 1/2 of it…so I am pretty proud of that since I let myself get so out of shape all summer, and just started seriously exercising again a few weeks ago. My time was 50 minutes so I came in at about the middle of the 5k group.
5k was really very doable, and I could have done 2-3 times that. I am not so sure about how I will manage the 60k walk next September though!!! Oh well, I have a year to train and that wont be running at all…though I am hoping to do today’s again next year and jog the whole thing!!!
Thanx to all the readers that sponsored me!!! You guys are the greatest!!!
The sad part of the event, we saw this. It was very upsetting (so much so I blocked it from my mind when I was first posting). I have him on my mind and hope he is okay.
No, not to the hospital. Though maybe I should have, because I just committed to walking 60km in 2 days!!! Yes, that’s right, I just registered for the 2008 Weekend to End Breast Cancer. I have wanted to do this for several years, but never actually gotten over my laziness around to it. Inspired by my awesome cousin who has done it 3 times…I took the plunge and registered. Yes, it is 1 year away…but I didn’t want to think about it all year and not do it, plus registration is only $25 right now but will go up to $75 soon.
I am not (yet-but if you wanna get ahead of the game and sponser me now, here is the link) asking for sponsers. Just sharing. I am really psyched!!! Also a little scared. Scared That I wont get enough pledges to walk. Scared I will get enough pledges and then will have to actually walk 60k. Scared that when I do my 5k on September 30 (have you sponsered me yet? Do ya want to? Click here if the answer is you do) I will realize that I will never be able to do 60k.
Ah well…I am committed now!
(P.S. GTA readers…wanna walk with me? Register here! Please…I don’t wanna walk alone!)
