Wonder how to get that voluminous windblown look?

Just add some electricity, from the Ontario Science center!

We went Sunday for the first time since…well…since I was maybe 14 or 15 years old? I honestly cannot remember the last time I was there, but it sure is a fun place. More highlights from our day:

Not on your life! Reading all the bulletin board and blog posts about the millions of gifts kids got (and parents bought), not to mention the overwhelming amount of decorations, trees, discarded wrappings and toys packaging parents now have to somehow store or discard makes me very, very happy that there is no Christmas in our house.
Chanukah, however, was a fun event and our girl did get a few gifts she loved. Here are her 2 favorites, so if any of my readers are looking for gift ideas for 4-5 year old girls…well…I highly recommend these:
Princess game house-This will require parental involvement if siblings are not around, but games are a lot more fun that playing with dolls! This toy has some that adults and kids can enjoy like checkers, bingo and tic-tac-toe. As a bonus, the box is a lovely wooden addition to any princess’s room, and keeps everything neat and tidy.

Alex Sticker Factory-Awesome toy. The girl played with it by herself for hours once she learned how to use it. A bit difficult to put together and learn to use, but easy once it is done. Creates a lot of paper clippings. Worth it though, for the baby-sitting factor. The man and I have had several romantic dinners out while the sticker factory kept our little girl out of trouble and saved us from having to pay for a baby-sitter (kidding, obviously…but it is a very occupying toy and she truly would not have noticed if we had gone out!). Be sure to buy several refills if you get it.

The man and I had a long awaited, lovely date night on Saturday. The girl stayed overnight at her grandmother’s so we had all evening and night to ourselves. She had an overnight with the other grandparent’s last weekend too…but we went to a Bat Mitzvah, so it was a fun night, but not quite a “date night”.
Saturday night we started out with dinner at Mariachi’s, a Mexican restaurant we used to frequent often when we lived near there years ago, and have not returned to in 5 years. Umm…it was delicious. Guacamole. Enchilada’s. Churros. Fried Ice Cream…drool.
Then we went for a nice walk int he cool evening, stopping at Starbucks for some de-caf yummyness.
Lastly, we say Dan in Real Life (after a stop-over at home to deal with the…um…bi-products of Mexican food!). I am not so much a fan of the romantic comedy, but I do love Steve Carall so I really wanted to see it. He, as usual did not disappoint. The movie was sweet, sappy and predictable, but had some very funny moments and was a great date flick.
I love date nights. We should have them weekly, or at least monthly.

Today we all went to Earl Bales Park to take a long walk and look at the changing colours. I must admit, I don’t usually enjoy this kind of activity. I am not really into “pretty outdoor things” and am not big on walking. I decided to join my family though, and must say we had a lot of fun. The girl is getting funnier and sillier by the day, and my family is so precious that I discovered being in their presence even makes something as unappealing as a walk in the park to look a changing colours special. Here is a slide-show from our day.
