I am no sure why but I have not been doing these anymore…I used to once a week or so. I am in an  pissy mood today and feel like I need to though, to vent/force myself to remember some good stuff.

Bad

1. It’s Diva time. (probably part of the reason I am so pissy).

2. Everytime I go to someone’s house it is bigger than mine. Nicer than mine. In a better area than mine. With nicer decorating then mine. Usually with more kids than mine (not that I want them, but I’d like to feel like we could afford them-and still have the same lifestyle-if we did want them). And a less employed mother than I am. How come everyone can afford so much more than we can? Everyone we know, anyways.

3. Something private that I shall not blog about (don’t bother asking), but that keeps recurring and makes me pissy.

4. Our social life sucks. We have no *family friends* to do things with, and it makes me sad for ourselves and the girl. Growing up, we were always hanging out with other families. I wish we had that now. All my (like, 3) friends are single or their kids are very young, all the man’s (like, 3) friends  have older school aged kids or are single. The few friends/aquaintances we have that are the *right demographic* never seem to want to do stuff with us, or never ask anyways, and I get sick of being the one to chase them down. So the three of us are always on our own.

5. I’ve been back on fit-day for a few weeks now (3, maybe???) but am yet to lose a pound. My body just wants to stay where it is now, which is fat.

Good

1. We did lots of fun stuff this weekend (Bowmanville Zoo, met with friends from one of my bulletin boards, went to a party for my cousin’s new baby, had dinner at my sister in law’s house and the man’s whole fmaily was there-which is a good thing as I like them all).

2. We are going to Florida in 2 ½ months. Hopefully. If we ever book it. At least we finally applied for our passports.

3. We are all healthy.

4. We are not destitute.

5. The girl is happy.

1) I added the Hot Or Not application to my facebook and nobody thinks I am hot.

2) Traffic was brutal this morning.

3) The man wrote on someone else’s facebook wall, but not mine.

4) My MIL came to visit, and got home before the man did.

 at least I have belly dancing to look forward to tonight…

My friends tell me that I have a habit of looking people over when I see them. I don’t try to do this, I really don’t. But I guess I do it. I like clothes. I like hair and make-up and jewellery and accessories.  I like to see what people are wearing and how they look.

I do notice when someone’s look doesn’t work. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t CARE. I am friends with people irregardless of their fashion sense, and don’t think any less of people that are not stylish or even that look bad, I just figure it is not a priority for them and that is cool. But I do notice. Here are some of the things that make me take another look and long to help:

1) Shoe offences of all sorts:

1a) Sandals and socks.

1b) Thinking black shoes go with everything. They don’t. You at least need a black (for anything with black and the occassional non-black outfit that screams for black shoes) and a brown (for earth tones colours) for each season, and really a beige (for light coloured outfits-especially in the summer) is necessary  too. If you really want shoes for everything, something in gold and something in red (looks great with jeans!) are always a nice touch.

1c) Casual shoes with dressy clothing or dressy shoes with casual clothing. Try finding something in the middle if you want to make it easier-sandals with a wedge or thick heel and thick straps (like the ones below) can often cross over and be quite versatile, as can many pairs of flats. If it is altheletic, it is casual and cannot go with dress clothes. If it has a high skinny heel or rhinestones, it is dressy and does not work with gauchos or sweats (though it can work with nice denim and a cute top).

1d) Crocs anywhere but the garden or some other very casual muddy outdoor event/place of the sort that I would generally try to avoid.

2) Too tight clothing. Tummy rolls, muffin tops and bulges from bra straps should not be seen. If you like your clothes tight enough  for these things to be seen, you may want to either re-think your style or lose weight.  If you have gained weight and are still wearing clothes from before because you can still stretch it out (or hold your breath) and  get it on so you figure it still fits; you are wrong. It doesn’t fit.

3) Things that do not, in any way shape or form or by any stretch of one’s imagination, match. Rules for matching are much looser these days than in the past. Patterns can sometimes go together. So can red and pink or black and brown. But some things still don’t work. I know them when I see them, and wonder how the offending dresser doesn’t.

4) Sunglasses as headbands. I can accept occasionally popping them up on one’s head and even do it on occasion myself (but not often because it is sretches out the glasses and gives me a headache). But I know one woman who always has sunglasses perched on her head. Any time of the day, any time of the year, any weather. I have never actually seen them on her face, and am pretty sure they are there for the hairstyle and not the eye-protection. We all know that hair can look nice pulled off the face or with some accessory between the bangs and the back of the hair. This is why headbands were invented.

4) Sleeveless or short sleeved turtlenecks or hoodies. I just don’t get it. If it is warm enough to wear short sleeves, you just don’t need a hood or a turtleneck.

5) Mini-backpacks.  So early 90s.  They looked silly then (even though I had them) and look really silly now. I know they are convenient and hands free. I don’t care. Try a crossover bag for hands free convenience.

6) Bad jeans. I know a woman who wears high waisted tapered faded jeans that hit her calves about an inch above the ankle bone. She usually wears them with sport socks and sneakers. I almost cannot look, it hurts so much to see this.

That’s all for now. If you are guilty of any of the above offences, no worries. I still love you. But I am noticing.  Please feel free to add your own fashion faux-pas!

1) People who jay-walk with kids. Of course jay-walking at all is wrong, but I am not gonna say I never do it. If I am between two very spaced out lights and just have to go straight across, I do, carefully. I never, ever do it with my child though. I just would not risk her life like that, nor would I 100% trust her to not step out in front of me. As well, I want to model good street safety for her. Seeing people jay-walk with kids (or strollers) makes me ill.

2) People who don’t signal when they intend to turn. Grrr.

3) People who honk at me the second the light turns green.

4) Rude salespeople. I have noticed this more and more. When I ask for something that cannot be done, long gone are the days of *I am so sorry, we don’t have/cannot do that*. Nowadays, when I ask of something, they just say *no* and then look at me as if they cannot imagine why I am standing there. This happened to me at the library when I asked to take out a book with ID since I forgot my library card. I knew they used to do this. So I asked. The woman said *no* and stared at me. Very annonying. If they cannot do it, cool…but they can at least say something like *I am sorry, our computer system doesn’t allow that* Right? RIGHT?

5) Blockbuster. They say no late fees…but the truth is if my movie is more than 7 days late, I have to pay a $3 “re-stocking” fee. Do they really think I believe they re-stocked the movie in 1 week, or it is anything other than a…um…late fee. Also, the threatening phone calls are annoying.

Get a pedicure Probably not gonna, as I didn’t actually plan on  buying the sunglasses when I made the list, and need to make up the money somewhere as I am determined not to go into debt during this vacation. I am great at doing my own toenails and have good feet (no callouses) so it was more for the pampering than the necessity, but I can save the money and have a spa day at home!

2. Get those sun-glasses off my Ebay watch list.

3. Have a play-date with Dina and Karen. Did it today, had a great time. Their kids are so cute, and it was so great to finally meet Karen in person. We are great shopping partners, and she is so hip it hurts!

4. Get the girl her 4th year physical.

5. Get the girl her 4th year portraits. probably wont do this, as I found out the photographer is coming to her school in June

6. Buy 2 very large rubber-maid crates.

7. Get rid off all but one crate of  toys from the basement.

8. Get rid off all but one crate of the girls’s clothes from the basement.

9. Get all the used clothing bags to the used clothing box.

10. Get the cat her yearly check-up, a couple years late.

11. Finally finish Shantaram. Just under 200 more pages

12. Get together with supermarket girl.

13. Watch Borat.

2 more days, and all I gotta do is finish Shantaram!
