So I am posting some pictures of myself, and my make-up, from Friday night. It was a casual dinner, but I got about as dressed up as I do these days, and thought I looked nice, obesity and all!

Yesterday was the big day for me, 36.  Not a bad age to be, but I admit it is a bit sad for me to realize I am now closer to 40 than 30. But 40 is the new 3o, right???

I had a nice day. Spent time with my mother in law, my friend, and my family. I had lunch with Charlotte and my MIL at Panera (yum) and dinner with the man, the girl, Charlotte, my parents and my brother at Royal Orchard Thai (double yum).  My friend also came for a visit with her adorable son not once, not twice…but three times!

She came three times because she was assisting me in dealing with a little issue I had. You see, I finally made enough money selling stuff to buy the baby carrier of my dreams, a used Didymos Pfau. The carrier I bought was advertised (with pictures to back it up) as dyed bright indigo, with very even colour.

The Pfau I got in the mail, looked like this:

So yeah, I had to do something. So first I bitched and complained to the seller until she refunded me half the cost.

Then I over-dyed it dark Navy:

Much better, but I still wanted some pizzazz.

So I decided to  overdyed it with  red, to create purple. This required some assistance with a scale and salt, and occupying the baby known as “the napless one”. So my friend came to visit and maybe get a wrap of her won dyed red too. Then she left and she came back with some salt and a food scale. Then it was time for her to go, but she came back again and she took care of her baby and my baby, while I did the red dye…and cleaned the red dye I spilled off the steps as best I could. The final result is gorgeous, but man was that a lot of work. Happy Birthday to me though, I got the Purple Pfau of my dreams:

I also have some loving family members who clearly read my blog, seeing as I got the Wii Fit Plus I wanted, times 2! Both my man and my parents got it for me. Yeah me, now I can be extra fit. Okay, really I will return or sell one…but it was awesome to get what I wanted!!!

I am loving Wii fit. It is great fun, and while not the best workout ever, it is a workout, and is also motivation to be more active and eat healthier in general…since it weighs me. By the way, it told me I am obese. Which I knew, but did not need to hear from an inanimate object without eyes. It also told me my body age is 34…so I rock! 34 even though I am obese. Imagine how young I’d be if I was a healthy weight?! I’ll let ya know in a few months.

Oh well…time to go do some virtual hula hoping!

So, just a few more days until the big 3-6. With me off work, a new addition to our family (since last year), and a costly basement renovation in the works, a substantial gift is not happening. I am perfectly fine with that, since it is the free things in life that matter the most, and life is good!

However, for my fun and your entertainment, a list of things I wouldn’t be turning down!

Now the girl has had the flu for a couple days, since she woke up yesterday with a temperature. She is doing okay…when she is on Advil. When it wears off she is feverish, exhausted and achy. Tomorrow is a PA day, so at least she has an extra day to recover before she starts missing school. Now I am really unsure what she and I should do about the vaccine.

Charlotte actually got the vaccine last week, Thursday-she had no reactions. My doctor told me they had a clinic running that night, and the man and I made a sudden decision for me to take her and get it if it is not busy. We walked in and out in 10 minutes. She may have already had the virus…but she is so young and vulnerable and we don’t know, so we decided to just do it. The fact that we heard about the 3 month old who died of H1N1 that day was probably a factor.

I don’t know what the girl and I will do. My doctor said that the flu going around now is H1N1, so if we are sick it was probably that…but also said the official recommendation is if your flu was not confirmed as H1N1 (and they aren’t testing anymore so mine was not and Zoë’s wont be unless she, god forbid, ends up in the hospital) then to assume it was not and get the shot. Great! That helps! I don’t want us to get it if we don’t need it, for many reasons…not the least of which is that there is already a shortage. Which is not surprising since I know many, many people who have been able to talk their doctors or the clinics into giving them shots even though they are not in the priority group…which is upsetting. Believe me I understand being scared and wanting to be protected, but they priority groups exist for a reason, and I certainly would not want to be taking the vaccines from a pregnant woman, or vulnerable infant or someone with already compromised health, and it makes me both sad and angry that so many healthy low risk people would.

This is scary, but I need to tell you all something. Because maybe…just maybe…it will motivate me to do something.

I went to the doctor today for my yearly physical . Pending blood tests, she declared me healthy.

that’s right folks. 189lbs. I have NEVER weighed that much not pregnant. It is unacceptable, clearly.

I guess it is time for me to accept that I have not lost my baby weight (I thought I had. I wasn’t weighing myself, and I fit into most of my clothes somehow…I guess my weight has shifted) and do something about it.

So, I have dragged the elliptical back to my bedroom (Now there is not even room to walk in there. Hopefully it’ll encourage my man to complete the computer nook he is supposedly creating so we can get the desk out of there!) Said Goodbye to my Coconut Milk.  Joined spark-people, again.

The flu has left me mostly with some battle wounds. A little run down, a little pale, with a lingering cough and sore throat…and 2 huge, evil, painful canker sores!

As for the cough and sore throat,  tea and some Go Naturally organic honey candies that my sweet friend supplied are helping to soothe.

As for the Canker sores…ugh. I was so miserable. They hurt so badly, and any of the numbing  treatments I tried wore off the sores within minutes-but left the rest of my mouth annoyingly numb for hours! So, today I hit the drugstore determined to find something to give me relief. What I found was OralMedic. I was a bit skeptical of it’s claims to work in one treatment…but willing to try anything.  I actually was so desperate that I tried it in the car before I left to go home. Well…I was amazed. It actually worked. Since using it about 9 hours ago, I have felt no pain, whatsoever, in my canker sore area. I can feel the sore is still there with my tongue, but it is completely de-sensitized. My whole mouth is not numb though…just the sore itself. Amazing. One bit of warning though…where the directions say “A brief “stinging” sensation is experienced immediately upon application”, a more appropriate statement would be “upon application, it will feel as though a swarm of hornets has entered your mouth and begun to sting you all in the same spot”. It was worth it though.

I am starting to feel better (I am not feeling too awful from about 1 hour after I take Advil until it wears off…but the 1-2 hours between when the Advil wears off and I can take the next one and it has started to work, I feel wretched!), so I will now post some Halloween pictures. They aren’t great, since we did not actually go Trick or Treating! The girl went with a friend and only had half  her witch costume (and her make-up) on when I took pictures, and Charlotte did not wear a costume. I may be a party pooper, but I simply refuse to dress a baby who is too young to eat candy or get Halloween in a costume and drag them around the neighborhood asking for candy…or even dress them in a costume just to take a picture and take it off again. If we went to a Halloween party, I may have considered it…but we didn’t so no costume for her.

Bad first:
I have been so sick. My fever is not high, but I am achy and miserable all over, especially when my Advil wears off. When I am on it, I am okay as long as I don’t over exert myself-which is difficult. The girl would not get off me or leave me alone all day… and she was so annoying to my achy head AND I am worried about passing it onto her (which is probably unavoidable anyways…but I still feel bad when she is climbing all over me, lying in my bed…etc). Thankfully she has a Halloween party and sleepover tonight. The mother did not mind her coming in spite of my illness, she is a teacher and figures whatever she can get exposed to, she already has. I don’t know if it is H1N1, I really have no way to find out as there is no way am I going to the hospital. Since I do have a fever, aches and (now) a cough and soreish throat…I am sorta assuming it is, but it may well not be. Either way I am sure it is a contagious virus I would prefer not to pass around!

I am hoping that the little 2 days fever Charlotte got was it, and that maybe it was so mild because of BFing? When the girl was nursing, Adam and I go two AWFUL stomach flus (you know, the both ends variety???) and she did not catch either. There were also several times that the entire playgroup got some sort of virus except her…BFing really did seem to help her immunity system a lot. Hopefully the same is true for Charlotte!

Well, I am about 5 hours from my last dose of Advil right now, cross your fingers that I feel a bit better than last time it wore off, and am on the mend.
