Normally, the girl has to make do with clothes from Old Navy, Children’s Place, H&M, and the supermarket (no links for the other stores, you all know them, and if you don’t, google them!). Not that there is anything wrong with that and it is all cute stuff…but it is all pretty basic stuff and not at all unique. I simply refuse to buy designer or boutique clothes (or pay the prices) for a child that will grow out of their things in a season, and ruin them even if she doesn’t grow out of them. Especially since she could not care less what the labels say, as long as the stuff looks cute (and it always does).

This year though, the girl has been reaping the benifits of my early nesting. I have been scouring Ebay and Winners for things for the little bebe, and of course can never resist taking a look for the girl. Though her closet is still mostly the old stand-bys, I have scored a few boutique brand items at Old Navy prices, and the girl is looking far more stylin’ than usual. My new favorite brands? Flapdoodles, Pinc,  Jillian’s Closet and 2 dye 4 kids (cannot find sites for the last 2). Here are some of our favorite finds:

Between the bad weather, plans, and (most of all) me being pregnant and lazy this summer, we have done few of the fun summer outtings we usually do. Last week the girl broke down crying that this had been the worst summer of her life (Not sure if she meant it. She will say a day she does not get ice cream for dessert is the worst day of her life even if she actually had an awesome day until that very moment) and I felt guilty, so yesterday we madeit out to Ontario Place. It was a bit cold for the water park which we skipped (she has done lots of water play this summer) but it was still a great day for it, not too hot and not too busy. The girl had her first day of school today. She did Junior Kindergarten last year, but it was at her daycare. This is her first year at the local public school…Mondays, Wednesdays and alternate Fridays. She did great, and I was not too emotional (sob)…but I did leave work early to follow the school bus from her school to her daycare and ensure she made it okay before I finished off my day working at home. Is that normal?

Yes, it is finally growing again. Here was last month, just 4 weeks ago:

My DKNY watch from Florida is too small on me. Sob. I did get it shortened when I got it (and noticed afterwards that there were removable links and I could have saved my time and money and done it myself…grrr…) but lost the removed links that I was SURE I kept. I CANNOT live without a watch, so today when the girl and I went to the only mall open (some of the stores were so busy…ahem, Children’s Place…you’d think they were giving the stuff away!), I had a mission; to find a new watch. Mission accopmplished. Of course, it was the first watch I looked at and I went back to buy it after 2 hours of dragging the girl through every jewellery and accessories store in the mall twice. Isn’t it always like that? You like?

It also has removable links, which is great as I was able to make it fit now, will be able to make it fit when my wrists are the size of tree trunks in a few months, and will be able to make it fit after I havbe the baby…so that I’ll then have 2 watches (oh, the luxery. I have never had 2 watches at once before!! Well, an evening watch yes. But not two daytime watches to choose from!!)

I have been having some cosmetic organization issues for a while now:

1) They are all thrown in a drawer in my bathroom. Not good. It is impossible to find what I need when I need it.

2) Often the man or the girl are in the bathroom when I want to do my make-up. Even though there is another bathroom upstairs, I can never use it as there is not a big enough drawer to store my make-up. The closets in my bedroom are also mirrored, and I often end up doing it there, but it is a pain as I have to keep running back to the bathroom to get what I need.

Today I found the solution:

Isn’t it awesome? All my stuff is organized, and I can use it in any room I want. It’ll also be great for bring my cosmetics when I travel, or when I want to bring them to a friend to do her make-up (which I don’t do often, but do on occasion and hope to do more of).

The man discovered these two little sweeties curled up asleep in the almost empty garbage bin (in the garage) this morning. They are so cute and tiny!!! He wanted to simply leave them there, but I am pretty sure having garbage dumped on them would kill them. I released them into a nearby field. I wonder, however, where mommy is…

Of course we still have some work to do, such as adding some wall decorations (but what goes with fuzzy turquoise and black zebra stripes?) and getting a new non-Princess lamp, but all in all the girl is happy with it. The cat as well. As for me,  I think it looks kinda like a Bordello.

The baby’s room will be the same colour, but about 2-3 shades lighter. Wer got one too many cans for the girl’s room, so it makes sense to just lighten it and use it.

P.S. When I sneeze, pee comes out. I felt like I needed to share that.

When people who don’t need to use handicapped doors? This is a pet peeve of mine, but it seems such a common occurrencee, I wonder if anyone else even notices or cares.

I have no issued with doors being used by those that are no handicapped-such as those pushing strollers, or carrying about 700 bags, or holding hands with a couple kids, or someone who is elderly.

But when able bodies, free handed people use these doors, it really bugs me. It just seems so…lazy. Besides that, I am sure the doors use electricity that should really be conserved. Also, the often then proceed to push the door anyways, since it open too slowly for their liking.

I guess it is part of my lazyness pet-peeve in general. People that leave their cars at the curbs of stores where they are not meant to be parked to avoid walking in a parking lot, or fight for the close spots at the mall or library. My local library has 4 non-handicapped spots on the handicapped row. The way people fight over these spots, you’d think the were paved with gold.

I am fat, pregnant, lazy and have a 5 year old clinging to me at least half the time…but I can manage to actually walk in a parking lot or push a door open manually. That’s all I am sayin’
